PARKING

We encourage you and any rental event guests to park in one of the nearby parking garages - one is located at North Boulevard and Oak Park Avenue; another small garage is under the Oak Park Public Library. They are free for the first hour and $2 an hour after that.

There is limited on-street and metered parking available. Limited free street parking is available on Kenilworth. There are parking meters on North Boulevard and South Boulevard (adjacent to the elevated Green Line CTA train tracks) between Kenilworth Ave and Oak Park Ave. Be careful not to park in areas reserved for permit parking. There are also parking meters on Lake Street.

Please make sure you and/or your guests do NOT park in the lot just east of Unity Temple. It is a private lot designated for the residents next door at 855 Lake Street.

If you are planning a large event, you may consider hiring a valet service. We have two companies available on our recommended vendor list.

Visit the Village of Oak Park's website for more information on parking.

ACCESSIBILITY

A ramp is available on the east side of Unity Temple off of Lake Street.  A dedicated parking spot on Lake Street is located at the end of the ramp.

Those using wheelchairs and others with mobility impairments may access the foyer, Unity House and the cloister level of the Sanctuary, as well as an accesible restroom without climbing any indoor stairs.

The main floor sanctuary can also via the assisted wheel chair lift. The Garaventa Super-Trac portable lift safely moves a wheelchair and occupant up the stairs, however it must be operated by two trained operators. Plan to allow for extra time and personnel to assist you and/or your guests for your event. Unfortunately, as a historic building, many ancillary areas are not accessible.
