Ilinois Assembly Faith-in-Action Trip

Join members of UTUUC and other Chicago area congregations on Tuesday, April 16 for a trip to Springfield to engage state legislators on social and economic justice issues. The Community Renewal Society (CRS) is sponsoring this event to bring faith-based organizations together to demand action on the persistent challenges surrounding race and poverty in our community. The focus of this trip will be on three on core issues; 1) strengthening of laws to prevent hand-gun trafficking, 2) providing a way for ex-offenders of non-violent crimes who have served their debt to society to have their criminal records sealed after an appropriate time thereby improving their chances of employment after prison, and 3)creating a progressive, fair tax in Illinois to support education and other social challenges. The bus leaves UTUUC at 6 a.m. and returns in evening. Contact [1]John Mikos or Rich Pokorny for details.
