Ugandan Pastor to Visit UT
On Thursday, June 7 at 6:30 p.m. Unity Temple members and friends will have an opportunity to meet Pastor Aloysious Luswata and to learn about the Adonai Child Development Center in Uganda. Unity Temple Community Minister Rev. Dr. Clare Butterfield is sponsoring this visit.
The Adonai Child Development Center is a community based organization operating an orphanage, school and community support organization in rural Uganda about one hour southwest of Kampala. Founded and run by Pastor Luswata, and his wife Abby, Adonai is a small organization that operates under the radar of the big aid agencies and large charitable organizations. At 350 children, it's not large enough for those organizations to provide support. So Adonai gets very little outside help or technical assistance. They do truly amazing things with very little!
Minister Luswata will be in Illinois from May 30 to June 17 and in Florida from June 22 to June 28. During that time, he plans visits with as many congregations and mission-driven organizations as will receive him. This is an opportunity for those in our community who are interested to learn more about children orphaned by AIDS and war in Africa and the compelling story of one organization’s fight to make a difference. Minister Luswata is particularly interested in building relationships between people and organizations directly with the Centre, and welcomes visits and service projects. Come hear about his remarkable work.
Light refreshments will be served.
