January's Movies with Meaning selection is "The Conspirator" (2011) Rated: PG-13
Mary Surratt, an alleged conspirator in the assassination of President Lincoln, was the first woman executed by the federal government of the United States. Was she guilty or tried fairly? “The Conspirator” starring Robin Wright Penn and James McAvoy, recounts a story of questionable legal procedure and foregone guilt, which reflect current practices.
We gather in the West Balcony of Unity House on the third Thursday of each month to watch contemporary films that engage our hearts and minds. Each is followed immediately by a discussion. Films begin at 6 p.m. with discussion at 8 p.m. If the idea of probing the human condition through the medium of film sounds enjoyable, join us. Questions?
