Healing Our Losses
Healing Our Losses: An eight-week course
Are you going through a life change? Maybe you have lost a job or a loved one. Whatever the specifics of your unique loss story, it’s healing to find a way to express it. This course is intended to provide a safe and supportive place to share your loss stories and to hear the stories of others. The book, Healing our Losses by psychologist Dr. Jack Miller, will serve as the course guide. In each of the eight chapters, Dr. Miller shares a personal story from his own life. Members of the group will hear his story and then share whatever the story may have stirred in them. Each class will include a brief meditation time. To support the healing process, participants will be encouraged to write, draw or find other ways to express their feelings in between class sessions. Each participant will also be involved in creating a tribute to a loved one by painting a picture, making a collage, carving a statue, etc. This tribute will be shared at the last class. Remember this course is about healing our losses. It is not a group therapy class, but rather a way to heal through sharing our stories of loss.
