February is Black History Month. We will discuss ways to celebrate and honor Civil Rights in America today, while learning about what forces have shaped this movement in the last 60 years. Through a screening of the short documentary "Selma: The Bridge to the Ballot," we will learn about the important role young students played in turning the tide of events in 1960's Alabama. Rev. Alan Taylor will join us in a discussion of how these events in history have an impact on what is happening in our communities today. In anticipation of the annual recreation of the historic crossing of the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, we will also create a banner that will be carried in the march by Unity Temple members. This is an all ages event and we welcome any member of the congregation who is interested in this important topic. 12:30 p.m., 3rd floor classroom.
